
As part of the reconstruction process following the Atomic bomb blast, the governing body of the Hiroshima prefecture, established a professional baseball team. The Hiroshima Carp got their start in 1949 as members of the Central League. In 1968 car manufacturer Toyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Known now as Mazda) became the chief sponsor. The team’s cap insignia was a H up until 1973, when it was changed to the Cincinnati Reds “C”. Picture her is a throwback to the team early days.
