The Battle For Los Angeles. Pujols, Wilson sign with Angels.

Oh its on now. For years now the Dodgers have owned the hearts and minds of most baseball fans in around Los Angeles, while the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have often been treated like the crazy cousin that gets locked in the basement when company comes. Heck the Angels aren’t even based in LA and haven’t been since 1966, their stadium is in Anaheim, CA, approximately 27 miles outside of Los Angeles. If you go back seven years the Angels didn’t even have Los Angeles in the team name, back in 2004 they were known simply as the Anaheim Angels. Many thought that adding LA to the name was a play by Angels ownership to snatch away fans from the vaunted Dodgers and for the most part it didn’t work, the Dodgers are an institution in the city of Angels, they have been a culture since 1958. The Dodgers have won World Series Titles in their time in LA compared to just 1 for the Angels. The Dodgers history is long and storied while the Angels is somewhat brief and pedestrian but it looks like change is on the horizon. With the signing of future first ballot hall of famer Albert Pujols and All Star pitcher CJ Wilson it looks as if the Angels might become the Kings of LA, usurping power from the mighty Dodgers who appear to be on the decline due to a wacky owner and years of bad personnel moves. Don’t get me wrong, by know means am I saying that the king is dead, but he is wounded and his number one adversary is on the attack.
